Dnow is here can you believe it !!!!! I wanted you to be aware of the schedule for the weekend. I have attached a schedule. Please be in prayer for the weekend. I wanted you also to know If you have any questions please don' t hesitate in calling me.

Also attached is the monthly calendar for February. During the month of February we will be discussing purity issues. We will be covering dating, sex, communication, material we watch and lastly the company we keep. Please be prepared to talk with your child on these issues. I assure you these talks will be appropriate for 6th - 12th grades.

November is a time of thanksgiving, we all know that. It is a time to be with our families and eat a lot of good food, and of course watch some football. This month we will focus on the idea of "Give Thanks" for the Lord is good. We will challenge you to think about what the Lord has blessed you with and what He has done in your life. We will also look at a comparison to us here in Decatur compared to those around the world. At the end of the month as we start to go in to December we will pray about a way we can share our blessings with others who are less fortunate. Lets count our blessings!!! And Give Thanks!!

Dear Parents,
I wanted to take the time to tell you about an opportunity we have for our students to team up with Silver Ring Thing. Several of the youth pastors from all over the county and First Priority of Greater Decatur have made available this ministry to come to our area. Silver Ring Thing will be in three school assemblies: Hartselle High, Austin High and Priceville High. On October 5, at 7pm at Cave Spring Baptist Church, Silver Ring Thing will be challenging our students to live a life of abstinence and purity. We will be leaving the church at 5:45 pm.
What is Silver Ring Thing ?
The Silver Ring Thing is a unique para-church youth ministry that promotes the message of purity and abstinence until marriage using two avenues.
1.An intense Live Event
"to motivate, educate, support and transform generations of young people to embrace a lifestyle of Christ-centered sexual
  abstinence until marriage."
"to create a culture shift in America where abstinence becomes the norm again rather than the exception."
2. A youth/small group film event resource called Project 434.
     SRT's 2-2.5 hour stage performance incorporates high energy music, special effects, fast-paced video, personal testimonies,
     and comedy all delivered in a concert-style approach with which teenagers can respond and relate. The program also presents
    an evangelistic message focused on forgiveness and second chances with a challenge to start over from past mistakes.
     Students who make a commitment to purity may purchase a silver ring as a symbol and reminder of their decision. After each
     event, students who make this commitment are followed-up by SRT staff with emails and text messages that encourage and
     equip them in their commitment. This event is designed for teenagers but is also relevant to college and young adult ages. A
     parent's session is also held at each event to educate parents about what is happening in today's youth culture and how they
     can encourage and support their child's commitment to wait.
We are also encouraging parents to be a part of this night. At the beginning of each Live Event, there is a parent's session that will inform parents about the real attitudes and behaviors of today's youth culture and will instruct parents on how to support their child's commitment to purity. This session offers timeless answers and foundational truths for parents who want the best for their children. Following this session, all parents are then encouraged to attend the remainder of the Live Silver Ring Thing Event and witness the transforming effect this program has on student’s lives.
The session covers the role of parents in the abstinence decision.
What is SRT, how did it start, and why it is so effective with teenagers
The risks and consequences of STDs and teen pregnancy in America
A plan to shift the culture in America where abstinence becomes the norm again
Nine ways to support your teenager’s abstinence decision
Follow-up support materials for parents to take home including NEXT: Equipping Parents to Lead… Inspiring a Generation to Wait
We will need help in driving students to the event. If you can help, it would be very appreciated. Attached is a card for you to complete and sign if you can help drive that night. On the same card, you can sign up your student for the event. Please return the card by September 21.
I highly encourage all our students and parents to be a part of this event. Sex and purity matters are a real issue with our teens. Research has shown that even fourth graders are now exposed to these temptations. It is up to you to make sure your children know and understand where God stands on these issues. I also understand that you know your child a lot better than I do, so we are going to provide activities at THERefuge the same night for those that may not be ready for this event.

Research shows that parents have more impact on their child's sexual decision making than any other
Influence - including that child's peers!
Parents are the primary sex educator in their child's life and play the 'KEY' role in influencing behaviors and attitudes. But what do you say, and when? How do you raise a standard in your home while the rest of the world is trying to tear it down?

The Silver Ring Thing is preparing your child to make a commitment to sexual abstinence until marriage.
The symbol of that commitment will be a silver ring worn until your son or daughter's wedding day. But how will they navigate the next five to ten years of sexual pressure? Is there something you can do to help
strengthen this commitment with values and conviction that will last a lifetime?  At SRT, we will do all we can to help your child make and keep this commitment, but parents must take an active role to make a lasting
difference.

Why a Ring?
We don't believe a silver ring makes students pure any more than a wedding ring makes someone married. However, a ring serves as a constant symbol and reminder of a commitment made before God to honor His will for our lives. Students wear a ring because they are waiting... BUT RINGS ARE NOT JUST FOR STUDENTS. Parents are also strongly encouraged to wear a ring as a reminder to PRAY for their child, for his/her future spouse, and for their own personal purity and integrity. Fuge camp Day 3

Fuge is going awesome. Our students are being the hands and feet of Jesus in Greenville SC. We have extended free time today, we plan on going downtown to do some street evangelism and then eat at mellow mushroom. Today the students are learning about relating to authority. Our key verse is from Matt. 14:29.

Day 7 Romania 2011

Today was our last day on the field. Our team Onesh and we saw about 85 today. We shared the gospel this area was very poor.
We went to lunch Colminsh were Dana and the other team was ministering tonal the church their it is a Ram strategic church. We had a romanian dish stuffed peppers they were so good. The church was big and it also had a seminary with dorms. Also they had a handicap facility where the team went to minister to them.
On the way back we stopped by the pastors home that we helped in Omish. We gave the clothes and some food. The pastor had 10 children the pic with the kids in the blue looking living room is their home.
This has been amazing trip and a learning experience of the people here in Romania.

Day 6 Romania 2011

Today was a great we saw 110 people today. It was a great day in The Secuiani area it's was the first time for The missionaries to be in this area. In one of the groups their were elders from the orthodox church the translator said they were very attentive and interested in what I was sharing.
Heather shared the gospel with two groups as well I was so proud of her.
Dana and the other group went to the Gypsie village down the road it was very unruling. The seed was planted. The local pastors hope to start a church in that area in the future, we had to gain permission from the mayor and this was huge.The rain was not too bad people still came out.

Today was a little different than before we split Thr team up into two teams. Me and Heather helped the Mississippi team and Dana went with our team to another village.
Our team started out here in Bacu and the pastor of rge church went out of town on emergency and The person he asked to fill in didnt show. Due to the leader not being there not many showed up. All the people that came through were members of the church we were working from, so I simple encourage them to be the great commission. Also the kids colored the bags that out students worked on that was cool to see that just a week ago in Thr refuge we worked on them and to see the kids get them was great.
After lunch we went to Rocovo it was a Gypsie village we saw about 35 people there. I shared the gospel message and when I asked them to stand to make a decision they all stood, I realized that they all knew Christ so I continued to tell them and encourage them to share their faith. The people were all
Members if the church we were working from.
The country here is deeply rooted In the orthodox so alot of them have knowledge of Christ but not a relationship with Christ. Some of the locals said the reason that a lot of people are not coming out is due to the weather. Please pray this rain away. Thank you who all are praying.

Today we went to Gypsie church and set up the medical supplies. Dana worked with the kids and Heather helped in The medical area taking blood pressure. The parents came and heard the gospel with myself preaching along with Kim and Tom. We saw about 15 who received Christ. Julian The pastor has done a amazing job reaching the people In the Bacu area around the church.
God is so good.

This morning we had the opportunity to go to the Roman Baptist Church in Roman. I was able to preach and Dana and Heather sang and shared their testimonies. It was a congregation of about 40. They were very discipled the service was about 3 hrs with a time of studying scripture a hour of prayer and 1 hour for worship and message. This was mostly a Romania church some Gypsies came in the service and once found out we weren't giving anything away today they left. We are learning the alot of the Gypsies are rude,thieves, beggars and don't like to work. The Romanian people are insulted by them alot of race takes place between the two groups.
In the evening we went to the Gypsie church here in Bacu. It was a awesome service and long about 3 and a half hours. The music was beautiful accordion, violin and piano. We had two sermons me and Bro. Bob shared and a lady from the group named Pam shared her testimony.
Tomorrow we begin the medical and children ministries alot of people will come for that but before they receive anything
they will hear the gospel. I am first to share the gospel tomorrow I am real excited please pray for Thd hearts of the gypsies To be receptive.
I was telling some on the team today that yes the Gypsies seem to be people that are selfish and can come across as not liked but you know if Those are the ones Jesus would go after the most.

Today was a great day of The Lord we went to the Juan Dolio church in the am and in the pm we went to Los Foundos we gave out the dresses. It was a great service at both services. Please pray for the Los Foundos church they are raising money to take a mission trip to panama.
On the way out we had a flat lol. Please pray for our trip home tomorrow.

Day 6 2011

Today we went to the capital Santo Domingo. There we handed out bibles and tracts, it was awesome so many people were approaching us to get the bibles.Also the team was able to go to the straw market to buy souvenirs. We went and toured the Columbus church which is the oldest church in the Americas which was built in 1511, after the tour we ate lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe.

On the ride home we went by the rawlings baseball complex that score owns, it is a 6 million dollar facility. Tons of kids come there for baseball camps. To finish off the evening the guys went back to the Juan Dolio church to finish the shelves in the storage room.

The team is having a great time and we have done so much in such a small amount of time. Thank you so much for all your prayers and support.

Tomorrow we are going to the am service at the Juan Dolio Church and in the evening we will be attending the church in Los Foundos

Today was our free day and we went to Catalina Island. We had the chance to snorkel and swim. To end the evening we went to the church here in Juan Dolio and helped with the youth service. Jordan and Cody shared there testimonies, they did a amazing job. The group did two of the vbs songs and we played games with the youth. It was encouraging to see the youth service taking place this was a great opportunity to get the youth off the streets on a Friday night.

Dr Day 3

Today was another amazing day of ministry, with no rain, Praise God and thank you for your prayers. We started off going to the Jumbo to buy groceries. We were able to feed 40 families in a Haitian village called La Tanques. I was able to share the gospel and Linda shared the Bible story with the children and did a amazing job. The kids loved the vbs songs.

We also were able to give the dresses and tshirts away today, the little girls loved the dresses. I wish all of the WOM team could see their faces,i have a pic of some of them. Our team is so thankful to all of those who spent evening sowing to make them available.

After Lunch today we went to a village and set up at a little school to distribute water filters, we were able to give 50 away. We broke them up into two groups and shared the gospel with them, some hands went up. One thing that we have noticed here is that eternal security is a battle with the people. Kim shared the story of the woman that washed Jesus' feet, she did a great job. We were not able to give the dresses out at this area due to so many kids.

To top the evening off we took the team to EL Sueno's to eat dinner. We have such a great team!!!! Please keep praying for great weather and that we all stay safe.

I read this article and thought it was really good. I wanted to share with you guys. We are in the process of restructuring the Adult Leadership Team aka ALTitude to a team called THERefuge Creation team . This new team will be a group of five. They will help plan and develop monthly teaching methods and events that we do as a student group. We hope to develop and implement some things discussed in this article in the new team.

It’s been our experience that healthy youth ministries have teams of adult leaders who meet regularly. If you missedpart one or part two, we encourage you to catch up, but here are our final three reasons for why we feel youth ministry leadership teams ought to meet together:
…| Leadership teams meet to RECONNECT as a community
"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (Jn 13:35, NIV)
Check out The ParentLink, our low cost- and time-effective tool that will keep you in touch with the families in your ministry.

Jesus was clear: our love for one another reflects God's love to the world. A ministry team's effectiveness is directly related to how well everyone genuinely loves one another. There are no solo artists in ministry. That is to say, when a leader isn’t connected to others, he/she won’t last long because ministry isn’t happening the way Jesus modeled.
We have heard many ministry leaders express their anxiety over the pressure to grow their ministry. We understand this pressure! Numerical growth is often an indicator of health. But there are other indicators too—like developing a team of leaders who love and care for one another. This is more difficult than drawing a crowd of teenagers, but in the long run, it’s a HUGE indicator of health. And, teenagers are drawn to that type of love and community. They want to be around love, and when they see it happen within caring adults, they’re attracted to those relationships.
There are a lot of factors that go into creating a healthy ministry, but at the core is a leadership team that deeply loves each other.

"When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours." (Rom 1:12, NLT)
Ministry to students is difficult. It's not easy to create meaningful relationships with anyone, let alone teenagers. When a leadership team meets the leaders enhance their interpersonal relationships and can help one another through prayer, encouragement, sharing, and insight. A problem one leader may be facing could be something another leader has already experienced. The more one likes their teammates, the more effective they’re likely to play/minister to others.
…| Leadership teams meet to RECEIVE practical ministry training
"If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success." (Ecc 10:10, NIV)
Leaders are learners, and as soon as we stop learning we stop being effective leaders. It’s important to take time to meet and expand a leader’s youth ministry “tool box” and discuss it within the community in which they serve. Hopefully leaders will be learning on their own, but learning together often has more “sticking power.” When you gather, keep the training light/doable/realistic/empowering… knowing that the best real learning will come from “on the job” training anyway. Make sure your meetings have some time of ax sharpening.

Flamingo Fundraiser

Starting March 20 through April 17... To help your student fund student ministry events

If your church youth group, sports team, school, or charity organization is
looking for a fun and profitable way to raise funds, Flamingo Flocking can
help you reach your fundraising goals without any selling!

HOW A FLAMINGO FLOCKING FUNDRAISER WORKS:
Using a church youth group for our example, an announcement is made to
the church that the youth group is trying to raise funds for
(fill in the blank cause) and that they will do so by holding a
Flamingo Flocking Fund Raiser.
Under the cover of darkness, the youth group will visit a member of the
church's front yard and proceed to fill it with 20+ Pink Flamingos! In order to
have the obnoxious pink birds removed, the "victim" must make a donation
to the youth group's cause. Once a donation is made, the "victim" gets to
choose who in the congregation will be the next recipient of the Flamingo
Flock. The youth group then removes the Flamingos and delivers them to
the next selected recipient after dark. This cycle continues until the
fund raiser is over.
One twist to the fund raiser is to offer "Flamingo insurance" to the church
members at the time the fundraiser is originally announced. For a amount
to be determined, a member can insure that the Flamingos will never visit
his/her yard by paying the "insurance premium" up front.

Summer Camp Fuge 2011

Summer camp, in my opinion, is the best thing that we do as a student ministry. Over the years of being a student pastor, I have always see much growth and unity that develops in our group at camp. We will work with you as much as we can. We had a Ham/Turkey fundraiser to assist you with the financial costs of camp or other student activities. Several of our students have D-Now, Camp & extra events paid for just by selling hams and turkeys. We plan on having a couple of fundraisers in the Spring. A possible Boston Butt Sale & a Flocking in March.
Parents, I understand that if you may have overlooked the camp deposit due to D-Now being due. If you are wanting your student to go to camp please arrange to get the deposit in a soon as possible. $50 is due at time of sign up.
Fuge Camps require us to pay a deposit of $50 per student by February 1. We are then required to pay an additional $50 per student by May 1. The rest of the camp costs are due 4 weeks before camp starts. This is money we do not get back. We try to spread out your camp costs out with monthly payments to help you with your budget.

Kickoff Rally: Wed.,Feb. 9 from 6:30-8:00pm @ Decatur Baptist Church. Kristian Stanfill is coming to lead us in worship. Be sure to be there early to get a good seat.
In order to get a good seat we are asking if your student wants to ride the church bus please be at the church at 5:30 we will be back at the church around 8:20. ( there will be sign up forms in Sunday school to ride bus)

A lot of time and preparation went into yesterday. We covered structure, dna, vision and new policies for the refuge yesterday. If you are serving leaders will be contacting you for training.
We now have a team rotation on all areas in the refuge.

Inhabit

This past weekend I was able to speak for a dnow in Tylertown, MS. The theme was inhabit. The word Inhabit means to live in or occupy. When you thank about our spiritual lives and the disciplines that we have such as reading our bibles and having a prayer time. Most if honest would say that sometime it seems to be like a chore to do everyday.
We are often told to develop habits to read our bibles. When you thank about a habit it seems a little shallow to me. Habits are formed from continuing to do something. Habits are not usually something that we necessarily desire to do everyday they are simple things we do and not even thank and dwell on them.
So what we must learn to do is let the Lord Inhabit our lives where He takes over every part of our beings, and then we will desire, yearn His word like we do food for our bodies. i hope this is helpful for you it sure was for me.
